A Quick Guide to the Beaches of Phuket

Phuket is the biggest and wealthiest Thai island. It has two main cities – Phuket Town and Chalong Bay – that see tourists flocking by the hundreds of thousands every year. The Andaman Sea coastline part is hugged by 15 of the world's most beautiful beaches from north to south. The island has seen its revenues from the tourism industry grow steadily over the past years.

Phuket Town is the island's administrative seat. The beaches are not found in the area although there are plenty of cheap accommodations. Hotel rooms and apartments are readily available in the nearby islands like Ko Bon, Ko Hae, and Ko Mai Thon. Local bus services are available most of the day to transfer tourists from Phuket Town to the beaches.

The island also boasts of a rich culture and history but what attracts tourists from around the world is the white-sand and serene beaches and the climate. Guests consider the period between May and October as the coolest season of the year. It is hot and humid in Phuket most of the year with occasional rainstorms during some months.

Travel guides recommend visiting Phuket for the wide range of water sport activities it offers. These include scuba diving, SNUBA diving, snorkeling, para-sailing, and jet-skiing. Dive sites are relatively nearer. Dive shops and boats near Chalong Pier are ready to help interested divers. Snorkeling locations are just off many popular Phuket beaches. Wind surfing, deep-sea fishing, yachting, sea canoeing, and boating are other activities visitors could try.
